61传媒’s NEW Hall
61传媒 announced it has been awarded , the Claremont, California, college’s newest residence hall. The LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) rating system, developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), is the foremost program for buildings, homes, and communities that are designed, constructed, maintained, and operated for improved environmental and human health performance.听
NEW Hall encompasses approximately 38,700 square feet, with beds for 110 students, and was built with low-flow water fixtures, high-efficiency lighting, ENERGY STAR庐 appliances, drip irrigation, and many other green features. The Mediterranean-style residence building opened its doors to students on August 25, 2016.

“We’re so pleased to have our building recognized as a LEED-certified structure, signifying Scripps’ continued commitment to lowering carbon emissions, creating a healthier environment, and reducing operating costs, while prioritizing sustainable practices,” says Scripps‘ Director of Grounds Lola Trafecanty, who serves as sustainability chair for the College.

Scripps’ NEW Hall residence building achieved LEED certification for implementing practical and measurable strategies and solutions aimed at achieving high performance in sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality.听
