Internships and Summer Programs
The European Union Center of California sponsors various internships and training opportunities for undergraduate students from the Claremont Colleges. Students learn about the EU and contemporary European issues while working/studying at an institution that deals with the EU and/or its member states.

The European Union Center of California sponsors 1-2 summer internship(s) at The European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions (Eurofound) in Dublin, Ireland each year. One of the first agencies to be established by the European Union, its role is to provide information, advice and expertise on living and working conditions, industrial relations and managing change in Europe to key actors in the field of EU social policy. The intern will spend approximately 6 weeks performing primarily research assistance and some conference preparation. In 2024, the units the intern will be assigned to will be one or more of the following:
Unit A – Working Life: project
Unit B – Employment: Working conditions of online platform workers project () and/or Company restructuring approaches in context of twin transition project (including updates to )
Unit C – Social Policies: Political polarisation project or Monitoring tool for impact of twin transitions (digital age/carbon-neutral economy – )
The intern is awarded a $5,000 stipend*.

The 2023 Jean Monnet Summer School on EU Policy Making will focus on analyzing civil rights in today’s EU, in particular with regard to human security, migration, discrimination and diversity.

The European Parliament Liaison Office with US Congress
A three month experience working with European Parliament staffers liaising with US Congress, US agencies and think tanks in DC and an optional two-month extension at our headquarters in Brussels. Be part of the next chapter for EU-US relations!
Interns are paid a monthly stipend for the full duration of the internship.

Those who hold a university or graduate degree and are a US citizen or have the right to work in the US may apply. Need to submit a CV, statement of interest, two letters of recommendation from university faculty.

Applications are accepted throughout the year and decisions are made on a rolling basis until the available funds are exhausted.Â
The European Union Center encourages undergraduate students of the Claremont Colleges to apply for internships, enroll in study programs, and pursue research projects on topics related to European integration, politics, history and culture. Students may apply for a supplemental stipend of up to $2,000 per year to help with the cost of participation. Upon return, successful applicants will submit a short report on their internship/study program/research project and may be asked to participate in information sessions on campus.
Applicants must be a 61´«Ã½, Pomona College, or Pitzer College student in good standing. CMC students are not eligible for Individual Funding. Demonstrated interest in the European Union is desirable.
