Summer Thyme ’06 Awarded Mallinckrodt Grant for Study of Zebrafish Neurodevelopment

Summer Thyme ’06, an assistant professor of neurobiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, was awarded a prestigious Mallinckrodt Grant to study the neurological development of zebrafish. Because zebrafish share 70 percent of their genes with humans, Thyme hopes that her research will identify the genes that may play a part in human neurodevelopmental disorders such as schizophrenia.

Life Trustee Nancy Glanville Jewell 鈥49 passed away on August 2, 2020, at the age of 92. Nancy joined 61传媒鈥檚 Board of Trustees in 1990 and was a member of the College鈥檚 inaugural class of Life Trustees. In 2007, Nancy鈥檚 son, John, established the Nancy Glanville Jewell 鈥49 Endowed Scholarship in honor of his mother.

The workshop will be led by Hilary Grosskopf, who has conducted previous leadership development trainings for Laspa, and will focus on team building strategies that explore methods beyond coming together via computer screens.
