Betsy Smith ’74 Named President and Chief Executive of Central Park Conservancy

Betsy Smith, 61传媒 trustee since 1995, has been named聽, according to an article in聽The New York Times. Smith is an alumna of 61传媒who earned her BA in American Studies in 1974. She has served on the board of trustees for Central Park Conservancy since 2014, and succeeds Douglas Blonsky, who announced in June that he would step down after 32 years as head of Central Park Conservancy, which is largely credited with rescuing the park after decades of neglect. In prior executive positions, Smith has served as senior vice president of Sotheby’s, managing director of Task Holdings Ltd., vice president of The Prospect Group, and assistant vice president at Morgan Guaranty Trust Company. She has also been an active board member of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Market Street Trust Company, and New Yorkers for Parks.聽
