61传媒 President Lori Bettison-Varga today announced the appointment of Michael Archibald as vice president for institutional advancement, effective January 15, 2012. Archibald is experienced leading highly successful university advancement campaigns and now will direct 61传媒 College’s team as it moves forward with its ambitious fundraising goals.
“Michael’s depth of experience leading campaigns and fundraising teams will be a tremendous asset to 61传媒,” says Bettison-Varga. “He is strategic and energetic, and we are delighted to begin the new year with him at the helm of our advancement operations.”
Archibald previously served as vice president for university advancement, director of major gifts, and director of annual gifts at St. Lawrence University, where he completed two campaigns that raised more than $300 million in gifts and pledges. He also led efforts to secure more than $100 million in support of new and renovated facilities including a $38 million LEED-certified science center, a $15 million student center, and a $15 million renovation of the arts complex.聽 He was the chief development officer associated with closing the university’s largest gift ever of $20 million in support of the Johnson Hall of Science and related science initiatives.

Archibald also is a frequent presenter at the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), an international nonprofit which aids educational institutions that raise funds for campus projects and seek guidance about building stronger relationships with alumni and donors.
Archibald earned a bachelor of arts degree from Colby College in Waterville, Maine. He has served as the president of the board of trustees for the Canton School District Golden Bear Education Foundation. Michael and his wife, Kathy Vigna Archibald, who is from Santa Barbara, have three daughters and a son.
