The and its sister newspaper featured 61传媒’s NEW Hall residence building which opened its doors to freshmen and returning students on “move-in day,” August 25, 2016. NEW Hall encompasses approximately 38,700 square feet, with beds for 110 students and is designed to LEED gold standards, built with low-flow water fixtures, high-efficiency lighting, ENERGY STAR庐 appliances, and drip irrigation, and many other green features . NEW Hall was made possible by a generous $10 million lead gift from an anonymous donor and is a hallmark project of More Scripps: The Campaign for 61传媒.听
The building is in the process of becoming LEED-certified, a designation given by the U.S. Green Building Council, which will offer a tour of NEW Hall as part of an international conference Oct. 3, according to Lola Trafecanty, director of grounds at Scripps.听
An official dedication of the building is planned for October 7.
