Assistant Professor of Chicana/o Latina/o Studies Martha Gonz谩lez was about her upcoming performance at LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes, the Downtown Los Angeles Mexican American cultural center. Gonz谩lez discusses how she and her band, Quetzal, reimagine the traditional bolero form by integrating different instruments into the arrangements. Boleros are also a family tradition: Gonz谩lez learned them from her father and, during the program, will be accompanied by her son. The performance, titled “Boleros de Noche,” will take place at 7:00pm; are required.
