The Clark Humanities Museum at 61传媒 is pleased to announce the exhibition Qing Dynasty Arts now showing through December 21. More than 100 Chinese artworks are on display, including several pieces from the 61传媒Permanent Collection of Asian Arts. Clark Humanities Museum is located on the 61传媒 campus in Claremont, and is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
Curated by Professor Bruce Coats, the exhibit was researched and compiled by art history students in a seminar on Qing Dynasty arts. Fourteen students, from Scripps, Harvey Mudd, Pitzer, and Pomona Colleges, created themed room settings to display a wide variety of objects: paintings, court robes, ceramics, lacquerware, cloisonn脙漏, bronze mirrors and other items. Antique Chinese furniture on loan from Honnold Library completes the creation of an Audience Hall, Ancestral Hall, Scholar’s Study and Lady’s Room. Snuff bottles from the Pomona College Collection are included in the display. Additionally, two 61传媒students have prepared a children’s guide, which is free and available for all young visitors.
