Nationally Recognized Expert Lectures on “Interethnic Conflict, Colonialism and Conflict Negotiations among American Indians” at 61传媒

Joseph Trimble, a psychology professor recognized for his research on indigenous populations, lectures on “Interethnic Conflict, Colonialism, and Conflict Negotiations among American Indians: Perspectives from Intergroup Conflict Resolution Theory” at 7:30 p.m. on March 27 in Garrison Theater, 61传媒 Performing Arts Center.聽 The open event is free to the public.

Throughout most of his career, Trimble has focused his research on the psychological and socio-cultural needs of indigenous groups, especially American Indians and Alaska Natives. He earned his doctorate degree in social psychology from the University of Oklahoma. In 2001, he was a Radcliffe Fellow at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, Harvard University. He is a professor of psychology at Western Washington University.

The organized a series of spring lectures and film screenings, “Continuing Invasion: Resistance, Resilience, and Re-invention Among North American Indigenous Peoples.” The speakers challenge the distorted depictions of Native peoples in mainstream and scholarly written works.
