Canadian acoustic pop duo Dala performs on Friday, October 1, from 5:30-7:00 p.m. on 61传媒’s Bowling Green as part of the Levitt on the Lawn concert series. The outdoor concert is free and open to the public.
Darlings of the Canadian music scene, Dala is made up of Amanda Walther and Sheila Carabine, best friends since high school, who are ready to bring their “catchy and insightful” lyrics and ethereal, lush harmonies to audiences around the world.
Dala has toured across Canada six times, opening for artists such as: Jann Arden, Tom Cochrane, Matthew Good, and Chantal Kreviazuk. They have performed at the Edmonton and Winnipeg Folk Festivals, and Mariposa.
Dala’s latest album, “Everyone is Someone,” was released in June 2009 to critical acclaim, earning them their fifth Canadian Folk Music Award nomination, and was lauded as the Album of the Year by The Irish Post. In addition, their trademark blend of soprano and alto voices has earned them praise from The Peterborough Examiner: “Dala can sing! What beautiful flights of melody and harmony, reminiscent of the Everly Brothers, the Louvin Brothers, [and] Emmylou Harris芒鈧ala can trade a melody line and leave one wondering who is taking the lead and simply leave one behind when the harmonies kick in.” To learn more about Dala, visit their website at .
