Mary and Liz Cheney will make their first ever joint public appearance at 61传媒 on Thursday, November 15, at 7:30 p.m. in Garrison Theater, Performing Arts Center, as part of the second annual Elizabeth Hubert Malott Public Affairs Program.

Mary Cheney is an author and served as a top campaign aide to her father during the 2000 and 2004 presidential elections. Mary Cheney is a graduate of Colorado College and holds an MBA from the University of Denver. She currently works for AOL, Inc., and lives in Virginia with her partner, Heather, and one son.

Liz Cheney is an attorney and specialist in the areas of U.S. Middle East policy and reform in the Arab world. During 2005 and 2006, she served as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs. Her responsibilities included designing and managing U.S. government programs to promote democracy in the Arab world. Cheney has also been a project finance attorney, served as the interim U.S. AID representative in Warsaw, managed International Republican Institute election assistance projects in Kenya and Uganda, and served as a visiting fellow at the American Enterprise Institute. During the 2000 and 2004 presidential elections, Cheney managed vice presidential debate preparation and served as a surrogate speaker for the Bush-Cheney campaign.

Liz Cheney graduated from Colorado College and received her law degree from the University of Chicago. She is married to Philip Perry and they have five children.

The Elizabeth Hubert Malott Public Affairs Program was established by the Malott family in memory of Elizabeth Hubert Malott ’53. Although the primary audience for this annual program is the 61传媒student body, it is the hope that the 61传媒faculty, staff, alumnae and parents, the other Claremont colleges, and the Claremont community at large will participate in the program each year.

Priority seating in Garrison Theater will be given to members of the 61传媒community. Limited seating will be available to others on a first-come, first-served basis. A live video feed will be available in the 61传媒Humanities Auditorium for overflow seating. For additional program information, please call the Malott Commons office at (909) 607-9372.
