W.M. Keck Science Department Associate Professor of Biology Lars Schmitz to National Geographic about the discovery of a new species of dinosaur, Oculudentavis khaungraae. An international team of researchers, including Schmitz, discovered what is seemingly the mature skull of a specimen preserved in Burmese amber. After studying the specimen鈥檚 eye bones, Schmitz told National Geographic, 鈥渢he shape you see there, that isn鈥檛 really seen in any other bird, or any other dinosaur.鈥 The discovery was initially published in and has received coverage in the , , , , and elsewhere.
