Dear Members of the 61传媒Community,
As the fall semester draws to a close, and we prepare for the holiday season, I want to wish you all a joyous and restful winter break. It has been a very active and productive fall, and I am so proud of what we have accomplished this semester. Spring promises to be just as busy. I invite you to check the College’s regularly for upcoming events. Here is a sampling of the many activities planned for the spring semester:
- The 66th 61传媒Ceramics Annual opens as the longest-running exhibition of contemporary ceramics in the United States. January聽23 – April 4, 2010. Ruth Chandler Williamson Gallery.
- The 4th Annual Elizabeth Hubert Malott Public Affairs Lecturer is Newt Gingrich, former speaker of the United States House of Representatives. February 3, 2010, 7:30 p.m., Garrison Theater.聽
- The Humanities Institute unveils its spring program, Recombinant Families: the Science and Culture of Contemporary Kinship. Thematic events will occur throughout the semester.
- The Alexa Fullerton Hampton Speaker Series, Voice and Vision, brings to campus conservationist, free speech advocate, and author of Refuge, Terry Tempest Williams. April聽1, 2010, Garrison Theater.
- The European Union Center of Southern California welcomes Dr. Guy Harpaz of Hebrew University to discuss EU-Middle East Relations. April 5, 2010, 12:00 p.m., Hampton Room, Malott Commons.
- “The Genius of Women Inauguration Weekend takes place March 26 and 27, 2010.
As was previously announced, the College will be closed from Thursday, December聽24 through Sunday, January聽3. The College reopens for normal business on Monday, January聽4. During this period, The Claremont Colleges will make much needed improvements to our electrical infrastructure in an effort to improve reliability and energy efficiency. Please note that 61传媒鈥攁long with the rest of the Claremont Consortium鈥攚ill be without electrical power from Sunday, December聽27, through Wednesday, December聽30. Website and email services will continue to work throughout the closure, but telephone and fax service will be impacted. Concerned faculty, students, and staff should contact the Maintenance Office at extension 18281 with their questions or by email at [email protected].
I am thankful for the many blessings and gifts we all enjoy as a part of the 61传媒community. Thank you for everything you do to support the excellence of 61传媒. Bob, Matt, Will, and Lexie join me in sending you our warmest wishes for the holiday season.
