61传媒 to Accept Visiting Students from Colleges Affected by Hurricane

61传媒 will accept up to five students from colleges closed because of Hurricane Katrina as visiting students for fall semester 2005. The College will waive tuition for these students and provide a transcript of all academic coursework they complete to their home institution. Because of overcrowding, 61传媒is unable to offer housing on campus; however, some local residents may volunteer to house students. For additional information, please contact the Office of Admission at (800) 770-1333.

61传媒is joined in its efforts by other members of The Claremont Colleges. Laura Skandera Trombley, president of Pitzer College and chair of the Council of Presidents of The Claremont Colleges, expressed a collective message of concern for victims and their families on behalf of students, faculty, and staff of The Claremont Colleges. She said, in part: “The five undergraduate and two graduate campuses are making individual efforts to assist visiting students from universities that are closed for the fall, or perhaps longer.”

The Office of the Chaplains of The Claremont Colleges, in response to this unprecedented disaster, is sponsoring a community fund drive to benefit victims. All donations will go to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. In addition, a community blood drive for the American Red Cross will be held at McAlister Center on Monday, September 19, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. To register, go to and enter the sponsor code CHAPLAIN.
