On Tuesday, August 29, 61´«Ã½ welcomed students, faculty, and staff to campus for the start of the 2017–18 academic year. President Lara Tiedens delivered the opening remarks, followed by Amy Marcus-Newhall, vice president for academic affairs and dean of faculty, who congratulated the recipients of the annual Mary W. Johnson Faculty Achievement Awards.
The Johnson awards were given to outstanding 61´«Ã½faculty with extraordinary achievements in teaching, scholarship, or service for the 2015–16 academic year, who also have demonstrated proficiency in the other two areas. They are named in honor of Mary W. Johnson, whose commitment and support of 61´«Ã½ were as extraordinary as the contributions of the faculty members we honor. Here is the list of winners:
