For the third consecutive year and the eleventh time in the history, the Claremont-Mudd-61传媒(CMS) Athenas cross-country team finished first in聽the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) championships. The Athenas, ranked second regionally and fourteenth in the nation, accept the award and individual honors at Prado Park on November 1.
“The Prado course, which is always rather slow due to soft ground and long grass, was made even slower by overnight rain which made sections of the course very muddy,” . Nonetheless the Athenas聽took home victories in the women’s Cross Country race with help from outstanding 61传媒athletes; Carmen Mejia 芒鈧�17 finished fifth and Jen Lehr 芒鈧�17 finished ninth, earning First Team All-SCIAC honors, while Bryn McKillop 芒鈧�18, Taia Wu 芒鈧�15, and Kaitlyn Spees 芒鈧�15聽earned聽Second Team All-SCIAC honors.
The men and women’s teams race again on November 15聽in Salem, Oregon, to qualify for the NCAA Championships.
