One Week, Endless Possibilities

2014 Life After Scripps

A life beyond 61传媒 may be difficult to think about, but it’s the Career Planning & Resources (CP&R) center’s mission to ensure the transition to the real world is not.

This October, CP&R hosts its annual Life After 61传媒program. Now in its fourteenth聽year, the weeklong series prepares students for all things post-graduation, with planned activities including job search workshops, panels with recruiters, graduate school advising sessions, and personal finance courses. This year, the center debuts three new programs: a Fulbright webinar with alumnae, a LinkedIn photoshoot, and a panel discussing race politics in the workplace.

Seniors maybe the closest to graduation, but they’re not the only ones who benefit from the program’s activities.

“We’ve designed Life After 61传媒to have something for everyone, whether students are exploring their post-graduation options, considering summer internships, or are interested in connecting with members of the larger 61传媒community,” says Vicki Klopsch, CP&R’s executive director. “We are grateful for faculty, staff, and recruiters who make time to join us during this week. It reminds us of just how big the 61传媒family really is.”

The event has demonstrated results. Molly Spiegel ’15 parlayed advice from a 2013 interviewing panel into an internship with the World Wildlife Fund last summer.

“I didn’t realize I could learn so much in one week,” she says. “CP&R makes an otherwise daunting process fun with the programming at Life After Scripps, and I left feeling more prepared to take on the job market.”

Although the program takes place each fall, CP&R’s dedicated staff is available year-round to help students prepare for job and internship searches, review graduate school applications, and do whatever it takes to help 61传媒students succeed outside of the classroom.

Life After 61传媒runs October 6-11. for a list of each day’s activities.
