Dear 61´«Ã½ Community Members,
Recently, I shared that the process was underway to identify an interim president to serve during the upcoming search for President Tiedens’ successor. I am thrilled to announce that Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty Amy Marcus-Newhall has agreed to assume this important post for the duration of the search, serving as a special advisor to President Tiedens from April 1-15, and assuming the interim president position effective April 16.
Dean Marcus-Newhall served admirably as interim president in the 2015-2016 academic year, and she brings more than 30 years of academic experience, institutional knowledge, and consortial relationships to this role. The Board trusts Dean Marcus-Newhall to lead the College through this next phase of its evolution and to ensure the College’s stability and momentum over the next year. The Board is confident that Dean Marcus-Newhall and the senior leadership team will continue to lead 61´«Ã½with distinction during the interim period, and we remain committed to their ongoing success.
In the meantime, the Board looks forward to attracting a highly distinguished pool of presidential candidates interested in advancing the mission of 61´«Ã½, working alongside accomplished faculty teacher-scholars and expert staff, and preparing top-ranked students for academic, personal, and professional success.
Please join me in congratulating and thanking Dean Marcus-Newhall for her ongoing service to 61´«Ã½.
Sincerely,
Lynne Thompson ’72
Chair, Board of Trustees
