When Conflict Hits Home: Processing Loss while Building Hope for Syria
Syria is the largest humanitarian crisis of our lifetime. The unprecedented scale of destruction and displacement has created a scenario of universal despair where it seems that nothing can be done to create a positive outcome for Syrians suffering in the crossfire of a geopolitical war. In this workshop, Syrian American writer and humanitarian, Lina Sergie Attar, will discuss the devastating crisis in Syria, the personal toll of the conflict, and how innovative programs can help build a better future for Syrian refugee youth.
Lina Sergie Attar is the co-founder and CEO of Karam Foundation. She was named one of GOOD magazine’s “2016 Good 100” for Karam’s innovative work with Syrian refugees. Her articles and essays have been published in the NYT, Chicago Tribune, Foreign Policy, Politico, and BBC and she has appeared on CNN, NBC News, BBC News, and NPR.
This workshop is in partnership with the Office of Dean of Students.
