On November 22nd, Professor Nancy Williams had the honor of publishing an invited communication on the event of the 80th birthday of Professor M. S. Brookhart of UNC, Chapel Hill (now emeritus) in a special birthday issue of Organometallics, the American Chemical Society journal in her field. She is very proud of this work, and she thinks it is a fitting nod to the brilliant chemical legacy of Brook鈥檚 many decades in the field. This paper represents work that spanned more than a decade at Keck Science, and the most exciting thing about it is the list of co-authors. The first, Professor Allegra Liberman-Martin (61传媒鈥10, a senior thesis student of Professor Williams) is now an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Chapman University. The second, Professor Mary Van Vleet (HMC 鈥13, a senior thesis student of Professor Williams) is now an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Spelman College. The third, M. J. Elenberger, is a student of Allegra鈥檚. Last and certainly not least, she is deeply honored to have co-authored a paper with Bob Cave (1957-2020), who was one of her professors in her time as an undergraduate at Harvey Mudd (1991-1995), and a friend, mentor, and colleague at the Keck Science Department since her arrival in 2003.
