His work East First Street #2 (St. James Park), from the series “Erased Lynchings,” 2013, was featured in the book The Image of Whiteness.” Professor Gonzales-Day’s photograph of “Shonke Mon thi^, (Shunkamolah), Osage” was acquired by the National Portrait Gallery, Smithsonian Institution. The image is part of his series “Profiled (2008–present),” in which he photographed figurative sculptures in American and European museum collections in order to explore conceptions of racial difference and beauty in art. |
