Aaron Leconte – Chemistry

Professor Leconte and his research group published the article:

  • “Mutant polymerases capable of 2’ fluoro-modified nucleic acid synthesis and amplification with improved accuracy” in Royal Society of Chemistry – Chemical Biology.  This work was executed and co-authored in its entirety by four Keck Science Department undergraduates: Trevor Christensen (CMC ’22), Kristi Lee (SCR ’20), Simone Gottlieb (SCR ’21) and Mikayla Carrier (SCR ’21).  In the work, they describe new methods for making the synthesis of unnatural forms of DNA more accurate.  This work has implications for the use of unnatural DNA in medicine and disease diagnostics.
