Reflecting a variety of contemporary dance styles,ÌýSCRIPPS DANCES ‘24Ìýis the Dance Department’s annual spring concert of original works choreographed by students, faculty, and guests. This year’s program includesÌý¶Ù°ù¾±±¹±ðÌýchoreographed by renowned artist Kyle Abraham in collaboration withÌýA.I.MÌýand made possible with support from the Marian and Charles Holmes Performing Arts Fund.Ìý61´«Ã½faculty member Ricky Medina’s newest Hip-hop creationÌýwill take the stage. Dance MajorsÌýDivya Ahuja, Sophie Kim, Loren Mello, Tierney O’Keefe, and Destiny Rivera-Gomez will present their senior thesis research projects in choreography. Ahuja blends movement styles to explore the potential and tensions within abstraction; Kim, who will complete a dual thesis in Dance and Sociology, examines a special intimacy from girlhoodÌýfriendship;ÌýMello reimagines the femme fatale;ÌýO’Keefe’s “Infatuation” is a jazzy exploration of spectacle and desire; and Rivera-Gomez navigates the experience of tri-cultural identity through the relationship between a mother and daughter.ÌýIn addition, Senior Dance Minor Clara Spitz shares anÌýover-the-top portrait of dissociation in a performance-centric societyÌýand Junior Dance Major Holand Dennis offers a fun and campyÌýouter space celebration.
