The Rundown on Honnold Mudd Library

Hello again friends!

I hope this spring has been good to you. I am currently listening to Meg’s Good News album, so I guess you can say that I’m in a pretty good mood. 😃

Today, I am going to highlight one of the buildings I use most at the Claremont Colleges – the Honnold Mudd Library. In addition to the dark academia haven that is Scripps’ Denison Library (Fun Fact: 61´«Ã½is the only college from the consortium to have its own library!), Scrippsies also often use Honnold Mudd.

Honnold Mudd Library

Honnold Mudd is your typical research library. The higher you go up in levels, the quieter it gets. You need help researching sources for your latest paper? Honnold Mudd is the place to go! It’s also a great place to go if you’re trying to study as a group. There’s plenty of private rooms you can rent out for a period of time so you and your friends can have some more privacy to study. These rooms come with white boards and markers!

Plenty of random nooks for independent studying!

There’s also plenty of nooks and corners if you are a more independent studier. I personally really like the 2nd floor or the 3rd floor for whenever I have 5 hours to type out a paper I procrastinated working on for a week. 😬  The 2nd floor also has a corner called the Course Readings section with every non-textbook resource required by your class! This is a resource the library has that I feel is very untapped. I never bought a single book for my CORE classes and would often go to this corner, check out the book I needed for 4 hours (that’s the limit since others might need the book for their class), and finish my homework. No need to spend $100 on books you’ll probably never read again!

Hate spending money on books you’ll probably never read again? Go to the Course Readings section. 😉

Apart from studying, Honnold Mudd also has a mini-Office Depot style store on the first floor called Connection. This is a great place to make copies of documents, buy stamps, pens, etc. if you’re in a bind and don’t have time to go somewhere else.

Honnold Mudd Library’s Café. Try the croissants. 😋

Of course, a blog post about Honnold Mudd Library would not be complete without highlighting its café! While my heart will always belong to the Motley Coffeehouse, Honnold Mudd’s café comes in at a close second. The café is on the first floor, which is also a great place to study with friends if you love sitting in booths. The coffee, while pricier than the Motley, is still really good! I highly recommend trying their various croissants, toasted of course. If you really want to feel like the main character and bask in The College Lifeâ„¢, this is the place to go!

In conclusion, I miss going to Honnold Mudd on weekend afternoons to study and can’t wait to do it again. :’) I hope this blog post was informative!

See ya!
