Hello Everyone!聽
As we all know, starting college can be a whole mix of emotions; Fun, exciting, awkward, scary, or overwhelming. Luckily 61传媒has plenty of different organizations and ways to support its students. As someone who is going to college for the first time, the idea of creating a new support system can be daunting. However, 61传媒does a great job of offering support to all its students through many different avenues of college life.聽
Before you even start classes 61传媒introduces you to your academic advisor, someone who will help you pick classes and is the first part of academic support at Scripps. During the first few weeks of school, 61传媒does a great job of introducing you to people who can be part of your support system if you ever need them. Each student is assigned a Primary Contact Dean (PCD). This person is mainly there to listen and support the student in any way possible. One can contact the PCD with questions about anything from social things to concerns about classes or professors. Along with an advisor, academic support could come from the PCD, a tutor, or academic resources. The support doesn鈥檛 just relate to academics – social support is also provided through the dorm life. Each dorm has community coordinators (CC鈥檚) and resident assistants (RA鈥檚) who plan events and activities to bring the students in the dorm together and create friendships. 61传媒has even maintained these social resources during remote learning and splitting them up by region. 61传媒also offers therapy through the Monsour Counseling and Psychological Services.
If you are anything like me, looking at all these resources might be a little overwhelming or you might think that you won鈥檛 reach out when you need support. A great place to start if you don鈥檛 know where to go first is to your PCD or academic advisor. Below are links to check out these different services!聽
