Next Steps After a College Acceptance!

The acceptance letter is just the beginning of the 61传媒experience! After this amazing accomplishment, it is valid to feel anxious about the next steps.

Here are some tips!

Connect with others:聽Connect with current students, admitted students, and even admissions officers. Highschool and college can be different when it comes to academics, social, and overall campus life. Don鈥檛 be afraid to put yourself out there and ask current students what professors are like and advice to be a successful 61传媒student. 61传媒students are serious about their academics and goals, but they also love to have fun! Many students enjoy being involved in small communities that make up the larger 61传媒and Claremont Colleges community. These communities are usually clubs and student organizations that fit into several categories: cultural clubs, academic clubs, religious and spiritual groups, theatre, and arts clubs and many more!聽 There are many things to ask 61传媒students about their experience.

Admissions officers can help connect student ambassadors to help prospective and admitted students. If student ambassadors are not familiar with a particular major or anything else, we will do our best to find friends and peers to answer your questions!

Here are some questions to ask:

  • Are class sizes small or large?
  • Are students engaged in learning through discussion, or do they sit in a large lecture room and placidly take notes while the professor lectures?
  • What is the atmosphere on campus like?
  • What they wished they knew before they enrolled and started classes?
  • What resources are available for students with learning and/or physical disabilities?

Do not be afraid to ask hard or embarrassing questions. Incoming students deserve to have authenticity when it comes to learning about the college they will spend their next four years in.

Social Media:聽Social media is popular for helping students connect. Reach out to others who were also accepted or even current 61传媒students! When I was admitted to 61传媒, there was an Instagram page for the Class of 2023! Each post was dedicated to a student who wanted to introduce themselves and talk about their interests. This has been successful for meeting other students in your year and start of by talking about similar interests. I met other students and we talked about our favorite TV shows to binge and our favorite music!

Final High School Transcript:聽It鈥檚 important to acknowledge that acceptance is contingent on the successful completion of high school. Colleges will withdraw acceptances if a student鈥檚 senior year grades fall. Keep studying and doing your work, do not catch senioritis! Also, if you want to change your courses, please let the Office of Admission know before making the change.

Explore the Campus and Environment:聽61传媒 is now open for campus tours! Experience 61传媒 and ask tour guides (admissions ambassadors <3) any questions about our experience as a student here. Registration is required and available in the admissions page. As soon as I was accepted to 61传媒, I spent more time looking into the campus and the Claremont city through social media, current students, and Google! I enjoyed exploring all the hangout places, study spaces, and interesting places to go to in Claremont and/or Los Angeles. It is a little difficult to find every available hangout place across the Claremont Colleges, so I will include a list!

  • The Motley at Scripps: For coffee, student-made baked goods, and comfortable armchairs. It is next to Seal Court, so it is very a very popular hangout/study space! ** Good news: It will be open for next semester! **
  • The Pit Stop Caf茅 at Pitzer: Serves coffee, espresso drinks, gourmet sandwiches, wraps, salads, fruit cups, and freshly baked pastries.
  • Shakedown Cafe at Pitzer: Lots of vegan and healthy options!
  • The Grove House at Pitzer: delicious sandwiches, salads, and drinks.
  • Jay鈥檚 Place at Harvey Mudd: Open till 2 am on Fridays and Saturdays. Serves Starbucks drinks and food such as sandwiches, pizza, spring rolls, and other snacks.
  • The Hub at CMC: Extensive range of snacks and beverages. Students can also order food such as sandwiches and burgers.
  • The Coop Fountain: The milkshakes and mozzarella sticks are extremely popular.

That is all for now! Congratulations once again and do not hesitate to contact us. My email is聽[email protected]听!
