Hi there! I鈥檓 Maya, a junior from Seattle, WA. I鈥檓 majoring in Politics and minoring in Middle East and North Africa Studies. Outside of class, I鈥檓 involved in the Prison Abolition club and Watu Weusi, the affinity group for Black students. Throughout most of my college application process, I was unsure of what I wanted, but was very adamant about not applying to a women鈥檚 college after attending an all-girls high school. When narrowing down what I valued and hoped to find in college, I knew that I wanted a small learning environment where I felt supported and a strong sense of community from my professors and peers. I was searching for a college with strong academics with a welcoming learning environment. Within five minutes of learning about Scripps, I realized that it embodied everything I was seeking, so I put my preconceived notions of women鈥檚 colleges aside and applied. Now, I鈥檓 starting my third year and I couldn鈥檛 be more thrilled that I鈥檓 at Scripps! I鈥檝e loved being able to help students navigate the college process as an admissions ambassador.
