Since the movie Inside Out 2 came out recently, I was inspired to think of some emotions that would correspond to 61´«Ã½students. There are definitely so many emotions that could be in a 61´«Ã½student, but here are a few that popped into mind.
Scrippsie:
- Scrippsie is the emotion that appears when admitted students come on campus for the first time and is an emotion that will stay with students even after they graduate. This emotion is in charge of being community driven and supportive of everyone around them. They uplift others and are always ready to lend a helping hand. Scrippsie is an emotion that I feel strongly and often, especially when I am giving campus tours and seeing visitors experience the beauty of our campus for the first time.Â
Mot Squatter:Â
- Mot Squatter is the emotion that appears when students study at the 61´«Ã½student-run Motley Coffeehouse for long periods of time. They are often holding a Matcha-cha-cha or any other themed drink from the Motley. This emotion was very prevalent for me when the Motley hosted a Bottoms watch party last semester and the whole place was packed with students.
CMS Spirit:
- CMS Spirit is the emotion that appears in 61´«Ã½students when Claremont McKenna, Harvey Mudd, and 61´«Ã½(CMS) compete in rivalry games against Pomona-Pitzer (PP). My personal favorite is watching the CMS vs PP soccer games, where the emotion of CMS Spirit is in my mind vigorously waving a CMS flag. WOOHOO!!!!
Turtle Watcher
- Turtle Watcher is the emotion that appears when turtles in the Seal Court koi pond pop their heads up above the water and swim over to say hi. This emotion is curious and friendly. This emotion appears the most when I am outside eating my lunch in Seal Court and the little turtles distract me from my meal.Â
Grass Studier:
- Grass Studier is the emotion that appears when it is a warm Southern California day, and students decide to lay out on Scripps’ various lawns to do homework, read, or talk with friends. As someone who gets bored of studying in indoor spaces, Grass Studier is an emotion that comes out for me a lot.Â
Fruit Picker:
- Fruit Picker is the emotion that appears when students want to pick and eat any of the 20+ different fruits growing on 61´«Ã½campus. This emotion came out in me when I walked around campus holding a 10-foot fruit picker to reach the tallest fruit on the trees. But be warned, the oranges on the trees outside Dorsey are sour… so if the emotion Fruit Picker comes out in you, aim for the line of orange trees outside of Toll and across Denison Library!!
