Favorite Foods in the Dining Halls

Being surrounded by 4 other undergraduate colleges, alongside 61传媒provides you with an opportunity to eat at 7 different dining halls! So many options to choose from can be overwhelming, but I am here to share my favorite meals from each dining hall, in hopes that it will expose you to different meals that you might not know about just yet.

Malott Commons is the 61传媒dining hall. I love their seaweed salad with coconut-cilantro lime dressing and acai bowls at brunch. Mallot also has freshly baked cookies during dinner time which are a tasty treat! Mallot has four seating areas for students to enjoy: the inside seating area, Seal court, Elm Tree Lawn, and outside seating area in front of Mallot in tables or grass area.聽

Harvey Mudd dining hall has great build your own salad bars which are delicious and refreshing with tons of dressings to choose from. Make sure to get there early because the lines do get fairly long. Every Friday, another popular option is to build your own pizza bar! It is very delicious with fresh herbs that can be added on top such as basil and cilantro. Mudd brunch is nice because they have fresh fruit such as papaya and pineapple which I love.聽

Pitzer鈥檚 dining hall has a Pitzer Pad Thai every Friday. That was a favorite amongst my friends and I during our first year at Scripps. They also have an amazing bagel, cereal bar, and churro desserts. Last but not least, Claremont Mckenna has a Mongolian stir fry every Wednesday for lunch which is definitely one of my favorites, as well as freshly baked cookies.聽

The consortium has an app called 鈥5C Menu鈥 where students can see what is going to be served a week in advance at every single dining hall and there are labels for those with dietary restrictions or food allergens. Some of the labels include Plant-based, Vegetarian, Gluten-Free, Kosher, Locally Sourced, and Organic etc.聽

Every college has their own type of cafe with snacks where students can purchase with flex dollars. Flex dollars are provided with each meal plan and are renewable every semester. For example, if you are on the 16 meal plan (16 meals per week) you will be provided with $160 flex dollars to spend. Having 7 different dining halls to choose from is definitely a privilege as a college student on the go with projects, classes, and jobs on campus.
