The newsletter, currently in its fifth volume, is edited by the First-Gen Program co-coordinators and speaks to the experiences of 61传媒students who are the first in their families to attend college. Co-coordinators Evelyn Gonzalez ’18 and Clarisse Salazar ’18 decided that “firsts” would be an appropriate theme to kick off the most recent issue. 聽

This fall, five new tenure-track faculty members joined 61传媒, including Ethan Van Arnam, who is an assistant professor of chemistry at the W. M. Keck Science Department of Claremont McKenna, Pitzer, and 61传媒s. Van Arnam grew up in southeastern Connecticut and received his BA in chemistry from Bowdoin College in 2007. He completed his PhD in chemistry at Caltech in 2013, where he studied chemical interactions between drugs and their protein targets.
