61传媒’s Williamson Gallery will host a bonsai workshop with Roy Nagatoshi, owner of Fuji Bonsai Nursery, on Sunday, October 16, 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Create your own bonsai in this one-day class designed for the beginner.
With his father, Shigeru, Roy Nagatoshi opened Fuji Bonsai Nursery in Sylmar, outside of Los Angeles in 1959. Nagatoshi’s interest in bonsai began more than 50 years ago, and soon thereafter, both he and his father were teaching the art of bonsai at their nursery. Nagatoshi holds a bachelor’s degree in ornamental horticulture, and makes frequent appearances, teaching and demonstrating bonsai across the U.S.
The one-day workshop will teach the horticultural, aesthetic, and cultural elements of bonsai combined with hands-on application of the craft. This workshop is geared toward the beginner but is beneficial to all levels of bonsai enthusiasts, as participants will learn techniques to improve the health and appearance of their trees.
The workshop fee is $95 and includes all necessary materials, including plant, pot, soil, and wire. Some tools will also be available. Please bring tools if you have them. Bring lunch for a noon break. Class sizes are limited and spots fill quickly, so register today.
To register, contact Kirk Delman, registrar at Williamson Gallery, at 909.607.3397 or [email protected]. Pre-registration and payment is required to hold your reservation.
