Suzanne Muchnic ’62 Receives Critical Praise, and Book Award, for LACMA So Far


A recent lauds the work of author and 61传媒 alumna Suzanne Ely Muchnic ’62 for her meticulous research and compelling writing on LACMA So Far: Portrait of a Museum in the Making, a fascinating history of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. The book was also honored with the LAPL, Bruckman Rare Book Friends Group’s 2017 notable book award, which cited among its praise Muchnic’s considerable ability to provide “a good deal of Los Angeles history from the past and the present, including the larger-than-life personalities of the city’s social and political leaders who participated in the history of the museum and its creation.” Muchnic, who has served as a member of Scripps’ Board of Trustees since 2010, worked for three decades as art writer and critic for the Los Angeles Times, has been a college art instructor, and is author of several books.
