As a state senator, Jackson championed the bill, which was signed into law in 2018; the legislation is now having a ripple effect on boardrooms across the country, the Times reports. 鈥淲e weren鈥檛 able to get companies there using reason and data,鈥 Jackson said. 鈥淪o we required they get there. California has a history of leading the nation in a variety of areas, and this was a first.鈥
